Yogyakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Vice presidential candidate number 3, Mahfud MD revealing the attitude of the General Chair of the PDI-P, Megawati Soekarnoputri regarding the application right of inquiry DPR RI to investigate allegations of fraud in the 2024 election.
Mahfud stated that Megawati saw no need for a spearhead to carry out the right to inquiry or request a dispute over the results of the 2024 presidential election which will be submitted to the Constitutional Court (MK).
“The movement to submit constitutional steps as a legal step and the questionnaire can be continued. There doesn’t have to be a formal leadership, that (the right to inquiry) is the right of members of the DPR,” said Mahfud at Butet Kertaredjasa’s residence, Kasihan, Bantul, DIY, Monday (11/ 3).
“Mrs. Mega thinks that for inquiries and laws, just go ahead, straight, firmly. However, actually there is no need for Mrs. Mega to step in to lead it,” said Mahfud.
Mahfud himself was present at Butet’s residence to have lunch with presidential candidate number 3, Ganjar Pranowo along with artists and academics.
On that occasion, Mahfud shared the moment he and Megawati and PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto sat in a forum with 16 community figures from academics, women’s activists and anti-corruption circles, last Friday (8/3).
At yesterday’s event, Mega expressed her views regarding the right to inquire and challenge the results of the 2024 presidential election to the Constitutional Court.
“So, it is encouraged to carry out inquiries and legal matters to the Constitutional Court to be carried out as well as possible and seriously and this can be done without having Ms. Mega come down directly because it is a very technical matter,” said Mahfud.
Megawati, according to Mahfud, was also encouraged by community leaders who attended yesterday’s forum to lead a movement to restore democracy which they considered to have been damaged.
Although, said Mahfud, the 5th president of the Republic of Indonesia had not yet determined his stance on this request because it was not yet time for him to provide an answer.
“Mrs. Mega is far away in her thoughts, this problem will not be resolved just with a questionnaire or MK. After that, towards the inauguration (of the president-vice president), October there will probably be a lot of dynamics so that Mrs. Mega doesn’t want to rush, it’s not that she doesn’t want to act, she doesn’t want to hurry,” he concluded.
