Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Sandiaga Uno, who was appointed as Chairman of the Expert Council for the Ganjar-Mahfud Winning Team in the 2024 Presidential Election, admitted that he was on the losing side.
He conveyed this when answering the possibility of approaching the Prabowo-Gibran government when it was officially announced as the winner of the 2024 presidential election.
“First of all, as losers, we should not assume anything,” said Sandiaga while in Bali, quoted from detikcom, Monday (11/3/2024).
Furthermore, Sandiaga said that even though the candidate pair he proposed did not succeed in winning, he was grateful for being given the opportunity to fight with the Ganjar-Mahfud team.
He also said he knew he was the loser. Because, the government that will lead Indonesia has the right to make decisions.
“We know ourselves. We’re covering it. We’ll make sure first and the future government will make the decision,” he said.
According to Sandiaga, the next government has the prerogative to decide which parties are involved in the cabinet and other matters. He also believes that the next leader will continue the success of Jokowi’s government.
Responding to Sandiaga Uno’s answer, the Ganjar-Mahfud camp also reacted. Deputy Chairperson of TPN, Andi Gani Nena Wea, said that the statement of defeat was just a personal opinion.
“That is Mr Sandiaga’s personal opinion. Of course it is Mr Sandiaga’s right to express his personal opinion regarding the presidential election,” he said.
“For sure that does not represent TPN,” he stressed.
Furthermore, Andi Ganji said that TPN would continue to challenge the 2024 election process at the Constitutional Court (MK). However, he could not specify what was being sued.
“TPN is currently preparing constitutional steps to go to the Constitutional Court. We are using the right to proceed at the Constitutional Court, of course with sufficient grounds and evidence,” he explained.
