Since Russia launched military aggression against Ukraine in February 2022, international organizations have documented many serious human rights violations affecting children.
Of particular concern to MEPs are reports of children who have been forcibly deported or relocated by Russian authorities, often in combination with re-education programs and forced adoption.
According to the “Children of War” initiative of the National Information Office of Ukraine, more than 19,500 children have been deported or forcibly displaced, and only 388 have been returned to Ukraine.
