Alpine skiing: Sara Hector second in the giant slalom in Åre – lost a big lead

The Swede was the fastest of all in the first run, but in the second she had a tentative start and the run did not match the same way.

– I had a disastrous start, says Hector to SVT Sport.

Although she was only noted for the 25th best time in the second run, out of a total of 30 riders, it was still a nice second place overall.

Federica Brignone was third after the first race and was completely disrespected in the second where she was clearly the fastest, a whopping 51 hundredths ahead of her nearest competitor.

After two races, Brignone won with a margin of 33 hundredths over Hector. Lara Gut-Behrami was third.

– Great with a second place, of course. Although I really felt that I had a good position, Hector tells SVT Sport and adds:

– The first ride was really good, so I really take that with me.

The effort means that Hector has secured at least one podium place in the giant slalom cup.
