Up to 42% lower than in January, the “greens” are formed electricity bills of March, according to supplier announcements posted on its website Energy Regulatory Authority.
The comparison concerns the prices charged by the same supplier, while the discrepancy between the most expensive and the cheapest invoice of the first quarter of the year is even greater. In other words, consumers who did not change supplier during this period, for March consumption will pay from 18 to 42% lower prices compared to January.

The announcements of the tariffs show a return of prices to pre-crisis levels, while it is indicative that two of the “green” tariffs are below 10 cents per kilowatt hour.
For the completeness of the comparison consumers should consider:
-The amount of the deposit, which by law cannot exceed 5 euros per month, but there are offers that start at lower levels.
-The levels of consumption to which the charges apply. Most companies apply a flat rate for all consumption, others scale the charge as consumption increases.
-The existence of a night meter for suppliers who still offer lower prices (only PPC appears on the website of the Regulatory Authority)
-The conditions under which the discounts are applied, from which the final prices indicated in the table are derived, which are, as the case may be, the consequence of the payment, the electronic sending of the bills and the payment by standing order.
The main cause of the decline in prices is the de-escalation of the international price of natural gas below 30 euros per megawatt hour, while during the corresponding period last year the price was around 50 euros. This de-escalation is in turn attributed to ensuring adequate supply despite the war in Ukraine, with LNG cargoes available in Europe as well as reduced consumption due to favorable weather conditions. An important role in the Greek market was played by the institutional initiative of the Ministry of Environment and Energy for the establishment of the special “green” tariff that made it easier for consumers to compare the offers of suppliers and stimulated competition.
