The magnate Donald J. Trump swept this March 5 on the so-called “Super Tuesday”, in which more than a dozen states voted to elect the Republican candidate for the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.
According to projections made by various international mediathe businessman won 14 of the 15 states in which he competed against his closest rival for the nomination, Nikki Haley, whose only victory was in Vermont.
According to the news agency AFPTrump won in the states of Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, California, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia.
With this, the Republican is practically assured of his revenge against Joe Biden in the elections that will take place next November.
After Trump’s most recent victory, experts believe that Haley could finally announce this Wednesday, March 6, her withdrawal from the Republican primaries, making her the only person left competing against the magnate.
However, the only statement issued by the official’s campaign was to celebrate the support received during the primaries, noting that she was proud to be the first woman to receive victory in two states (Vermont and Washington, DC).
“Today, in state after state, there remains a large bloc of Republican primary voters who are expressing deep concerns about Donald Trump. That is not the unity our party needs to be successful,” declared Olivia Pérez-Cubas, spokesperson for Haley’s national campaign.
Trump and Biden’s victories were expected this Super Tuesday
The results of this Super Tuesday have not surprised anyone, since it has been speculated for some time that both Trump and Biden would win their respective positions by not having anyone who would come close to them in their parties’ primaries.
The current president won the primaries in all states except the territory of American Samoa, an archipelago in the Pacific where Jason Palmer, a businessman from Baltimore, took victory.
“It has been an incredible, incredible night and day. “It has been an incredible period in the history of our country,” Trump declared to his followers at a meeting held at his Mar-a-Lago mansion in Florida.
“Thank you – MAGA!” he also indicated on his social network Truth Social, which he opened after being expelled from Twitter in 2021.
