The US Department of Justice has launched an investigation into the incident involving an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX, which lost part of its fuselage during a flight. Justice has contacted passengers and crew members.
That reports The Wall Street Journal Saturday. The American newspaper bases itself on documents and insiders.
The aircraft had to make an emergency landing in early January after part of the fuselage came loose. It concerned a panel that closed off an unused emergency exit.
The panel was not properly attached. Four bolts were missing, according to a preliminary report from the US agency that investigates transport accidents.
All 171 passengers and 6 crew members survived the incident.
