A terrible scandal entangled the co-chairman of the PP Kiril Petkov just hours before the important negotiations on the future of the assembly and the cabinet began.
It all started during his speech at the top DB forum.
There he supported Hristo Ivanov on the grounds that Asen Vasilev should remain finance minister because we are at the final stage of our acceptance into the Eurozone, but he added another argument that blew up the political situation.
He said that the mayors of GERB would prefer Vassilev, and not the former finance minister from the “Borisov” cabinet, Vladislav Goranov, to be in office and make the budget.
The reaction was not long in coming. Dozens of mayors came out with a declaration against Petkov.
“We, the mayors from GERB, strongly object to today’s attempts at suggestions that the chairman of “Continuing the change” Kiril Petkov made at the national conference of “Democratic Bulgaria”.
Mediocre attempts to bring division into the largest political party in Bulgaria, and that hours before the start of negotiations on the governance of the country in the coming months, is ridiculous, unworthy and unethical”, stated the mayors from GERB in a sharp position.
They also oppose his statement that there were camps and divisions in GERB.
There are different opinions, different ideas, but our political actions are always united, the mayors from GERB are categorical.
