Germany considers transfer of long-range missiles to Ukraine amidst escalating tensions

“We are determined to work closely with our German partners on this, as on all other issues, to help Ukraine,” the foreign minister said.

As Cameron explained, a possible ring exchange is allowed. For example, Germany will transfer Taurus missiles to Britain, and London, in turn, will provide Ukraine with additional Storm Shadow missiles.

“We are ready to consider all options in order to achieve maximum effect for Ukraine… But we will not provide any details and will not tell our opponents what we are planning,” the minister added.

“It is entirely possible to place restrictions on the use of these weapons to ensure that they do not in any way contribute to escalation,” he said, adding that Britain trusts Ukraine’s assurances.

Long-range missiles for Ukraine

Let us recall that earlier Britain and France provided Ukraine with long-range Storm Shadow and Scalp missiles. It is also known that the United States transferred missiles with a range of up to 165 km to our soldiers. We are talking about ATACMS long-range missiles.

There are currently discussions about transferring German Taurus missiles to Ukraine, capable of destroying targets at a distance of up to 500 km. Berlin is so far opposed, but Ukraine and allies are calling on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to make a decision.

More details about whether our country will still receive German long-range missiles can be found in the RBC-Ukraine article.
