Hollywood certainly has its current superstar.
Over the past few days, the name of Oscar nominee Cillian Murphy has been floating around in the media, who, according to many, would perfectly fit the role of the British spy after Craig’s 15-year incarnation as Agent 007.
The 47-year-old Irishman is tipped to top film bosses’ shortlists for the role of James Bond after his incredible portrayal of atomic bomb father Robert Oppenheimer in this summer’s Christopher Nolan masterpiece.
The ‘Peaky Blinders’ star impressed so many producers and directors with his BAFTA-winning performance that they are desperate to give him the legendary role they once stepped into Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan.
However, Killian himself believes that he is not so convinced of the beliefs of the fans. According to the actor, he would not fit into the iconic character of James Bond. When asked if the rumors were true, he quickly put the speculation to rest, saying: “I’m too old for that now.”
Killian, who has been increasingly pegged as the next best actor Oscar winner for Oppenheimer, made his professional acting debut in 1996. Murphy subsequently performed on the stage in Cork, Dublin and London until the end of the decade. He began acting in films in 1997 and became internationally known after starring in Danny Boyle’s groundbreaking 28 Days Later in 2002.
“Killian is the best actor in Hollywood right now and he would be the perfect actor for the role. With him, we will take the James Bond franchise to the top,” an unnamed source revealed to The Sun.
“Killian is the toast of Hollywood right now and this would be the best role. It’s a way to elevate the Bond franchise with an actor who is at the top of his game,” continued the source quoted by the Telegraph.
