James Anderson Makes History with 700th Test Wicket, Becomes First Pace Bowler to Reach Milestone

Dharamsala: England’s James Anderson became the first pace bowler to complete 700 wickets in Test cricket history. The record achievement against Anderson came after taking the wicket of India’s Kuldeep Yadav on the third day of the Dharamsala Test. Earlier he reached 699 by taking the wicket of Shubman Gill.

Going into the Dharamsala Test, the 41-year-old Anderson was two wickets away from the historic achievement. Shubman took the wickets of Gill and Kuldeep to reach the milestone of 700. Only Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan (800) and Australia’s Shane Warne (708) are ahead of Anderson in terms of wickets. Both are spinners. Among the pace bowlers, only Anderson managed to achieve this feat.

Anderson’s achievement is from 187 Test matches. Test debut in 2002. 32 five-wicket hauls and three 10-wicket hauls. His best performance was taking 7 wickets for 42 runs.
