– Daniela, you have always avoided media attention – what made you break your silence?
– I have always avoided publicity and have never spoken to the media. I think one popular person in the family is enough. But for some time, I, Chocho and our relatives have been subjected to systematic harassment by publications that publish complete fabrications.
– Like the one that you abandoned Chocho and he lives all alone?
– It’s a lie that Chocho is alone. I will never leave him. This should be very clear to everyone. Nothing can make me part with him. Of course, if he doesn’t want to. To stop and leave us alone! They can’t spend years dealing with certain people just because they’re famous. They can’t get under the sheets. It’s a real horror! We have even seen them filming under our windows. Last I read, Chocho owes money everywhere, drinking in pubs, and his father follows him and covers his bills… He just can’t make ends meet.
I’ll never forget Chocho’s reaction when he read something really nasty about himself – that he had refused chemotherapy and was dying of cancer. He lay down, turned his head and shut up. Well, it can’t be like that. OK, you’ve appointed a person, insult him, but – cancer?! Then we had to get medical documents to prove to our relatives that this is not true, that we are not hiding. I wonder if these people are not afraid that there is retribution… Unfortunately, I know that many readers believe such fictions.
– One of the last writings states that Chocho has once again indulged in his vice. What is the truth?
– Chocho feels good. And his colleagues see it. He does his job, which he loves very much. No problem with alcohol. Thank God, with a lot of effort on his part, it ended.
– For which your presence probably matters a lot?
– As long as I’m next to him. I strive to support him, to give him strength. He needs to see that there is nothing more important to me than that. That I’m ready to do anything to help him. So that she can gain some confidence, pull herself together and get through the tough times. But everything depends mostly on himself.
Uncle: – It is not true that I indulged in alcohol. You see what is in front of me – a glass of tonic. I give the recipe: tonic, maybe carbonated water, with lots of ice and fresh ginger. Terribly refreshing. My big problem right now is related to my mother’s health. I think about it all the time. I don’t go to restaurants, I don’t meet with companies. The claims that I am indebted to colleagues are complete nonsense. On the contrary, friends owe me money. I won’t say their names because they are quite famous actors.
– Does such “news” reach your family?
– My father is also upset by the writings that I have wasted myself and am in debt. He started asking where I am, when I got home, where Daniela is – we become suspicious of our closest friends.
For a long time, I did not care about the opinion of people who pass me on the street. I will not become bigger and greater than what I have done in my life. But I don’t want to be looked at with the suspicion that, you see, he has become the bad boy again.
– Rumors are perhaps fueled by the fact that colleagues replaced you in several performances?
– This was necessary because, firstly, I started to get tired of the performances and secondly, I broke two ribs on stage, which swelled up tremendously. I fell, not because I was under the influence of alcohol, as they trumpeted. I just didn’t want to disturb the girls from the show and decided to change off stage. I bumped into a table in the dark and injured myself. At the moment I am playing in all my shows – “Hashes”, “Cherry Orchard”, “Five Women in the Same Dresses”, “Love, Happiness, Millions”. I’m starting to rehearse on another project. And in the meantime, I’m filming the new season of “Undercover”. Kalin Yavorov is about to replace me again in “5 women in the same dresses” because I have to be in photos. People imagine that our profession is very thankless. It is not so. This is mining work. You need a lot of stamina and a hell of a strong psyche to be able to pull it off.
– Years ago you were a bohemian, you maintained many friendships. Who are you close to today?
– I only contact the people with whom I have specific business. A friend – Niki Kostadinov, may God forgive him, used to say: “You enter a big theater and immediately leave.” That is, you do your work – rehearsal, performance, and the chupka. No hanging out in pubs, getting drunk, etc. And he was right.
– Do you trust colleagues from the theater?
– Over the years, I become more and more closed. We sadly become “very nice” and concerned when someone has problems and is stuck. But this is not true, it is science. This is the mentality of a Bulgarian – to look into his glass, to reach into his jug, to look in his trash at what he throws out… The acting profession teaches you to be able to say to someone: “Oh, you are so cute, how kind you are “. And when you turn around, he hisses: “I to you … May you die!”.
-Daniela, Chocho is probably not easy to live with?
– That it is not easy, it is not. People are different. When two people come together, everyone compromises. Perfect coexistence exists only in fairy tales.
– You are his support, and what gives you strength?
– He charges me. Chocho is the one who gives me strength. We charge each other. We travel often. When everyday life gets a little too much for us, we leave. We were last in Portugal, Spain and Italy.
Uncle: – Whatever we spend and let’s go.
– Daniela, what do you like about Chocho?
– There is no one with such a soul. He is not spiteful – he always forgives. He knows how to love terribly. Especially if the woman next to him shows that she is actually with him. Even the way he fights is sometimes nice.
Uncle: – A woman’s tolerance for a man is something extremely important. I’m not capricious. But taking care of a man is an important thing. Because 99 percent of us men stay boys.
– Uncle, what are you doing to make Daniela feel good?
– I can’t cook, but I do when I feel like it. This is the most banal. The other thing is: when she tells me – do you want to do this, I say – yes. To agree.
– How do you save yourself in difficult times
– With her relatives – Daniela in the first place, with the dog, the cat. And attention to my father and mother.
