Sonsonate won the match comfortably 0-3, but the locals’ reaction put them in trouble in the final minutes of the match.
The western team took the lead on the scoreboard with Gerson Martínez’s goal in the 33rd minute. Erickson Mancía made it 0-2 at 48′ and 10 minutes later, Martínez once again hit the Morazanians’ net to make it 0-3.
However, the eastern team did not lower its arms and insistently sought the goal of Sonsonate. Until at 77′, Josué Orellana scored the first for the locals. With spirits fired up and the support of his fans, Morazán found the second in the 89th minute thanks to the definition of Cristian Márquez.
This attempted comeback by Morazán put Sonsonate in trouble and although they suffered during the closing stages of the match, they managed to maintain the advantage that gave them the victory and the three points as a visitor.
With this result, Sonsonate reached 24 points in the standings and is in tenth place, while Morazán suffered its twentieth defeat in the tournament and closes the second round with 14 points and in 12th place.
On Thursday, Sonsonate will visit La Paz, at the Antonio Toledo Valle Stadium, at 2:30 pm to complete the pending game on matchday 19.
