A man from Stiphout in Brabant has again made a mistake when breeding cats. Inspectors found a prohibited substance on him. Two weeks ago, the National Animal Welfare Inspection Service (LID) found 91 cats in his house.

The inspection service visited the man again shortly after the previous inspection. This time the housing appeared to be in order, but the cats had illnesses that had not been properly cared for. The inspectors also found the banned substance SAK. This drug can be used to treat a fatal cat disease.

The breeder admitted that he administered the drug to his cats. The inspection seized three cats and three kittens. The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) has also been called in due to the illegal use of medicines.

Two weeks ago the man was caught keeping 91 cats. There was also a strong ammonia smell in the house, the litter boxes were seriously dirty and the house was filthy. After this discovery, the breeder is allowed to have a maximum of ten cats in the municipality of Helmond, which includes Stiphout. The LID also imposed penalty payments on the breeder.
