The welfare policy in Epirus during the 20th century. – 2024-03-08 18:15:11

REPORT TO THE GENERAL ARCHIVES OF THE STATE

The G.A.K-Historical Archive-Museum of Epirusas part of the “Eleftheria” anniversary events to celebrate the liberation of the city of Ioannina from the Ottoman yoke on February 21, 2024, are organizing an exhibition of archival documents and paintings entitled: «Isioni the Providence. The welfare policy of the Greek state in Epirus during the 20The h.». The exhibition ends under the auspices of the Hellenic Parliament and will take place in the specially designed space of the Epirus Historical Archive – Museum (I.A.M.H.), in collaboration with the Region of Epirus and the Municipality of Ioannito.

Through the thematic sections of Public Health, Nutrition and Care, it aims to highlight the welfare policy of the Greek State, which appears as a multidimensional phenomenon of analysis and structure, taking into account the economic, political, cultural, historical and social conditions :

  1. Social role of the state and the need to expand public social expenditure
  2. Private, ecclesiastical initiative and the importance of international organizations
  3. Social and ideological conditions, role of organized interests
  4. The role of social benefits in social groups

The myth of Isioni was the source of inspiration for the realization of the exhibition, as it magically connects Greek mythology with today’s harsh reality and annihilates the distance by geographically bringing ancient Troy, a coveted trophy of the Achaeans, to the King’s Epirus Pyrrho and the model of federal democracy in Europe, the “Audience of Epirotes».

The exhibition will be framed by his collection Konstantinou Fai, visual and cartoonist researcher, which includes works done in pencil and Chinese ink on heat paper, which in style imitate engravings of previous centuries. In particular, the visual compositions in spatial applications, the portraits and the architectural typology and expression have a thematic core of the gods of the Pantheon of Olympus, mythical beings, kings and events.
