Česká spořitelna’s Platím a spořím Service Revolutionizes Savings for Czech Consumers

In recent years, the financial market has increasingly focused on innovations that aim to make it easier for people to manage their finances and support their financial health. Česká spořitelna is now coming up with an innovation that has the potential to change the way people approach saving. The Platím a spořím service is here and brings with it a positive response among Czech consumers. But what does this actually mean for the everyday user and what makes this service so special?

Savings made easy and effortless

The basis of the Platím a spořím service is the principle of rounding up card payments to the next higher ten. This simple yet brilliant idea allows the difference between the actual price and the rounded amount to automatically go into a savings account. In this way, everyday purchases are turned into small but regular deposits into a savings account. Thanks to this, they support the creation of a financial reserve without any additional effort on the part of the client.

Optional rounding height

What’s great about Pay and Save is the choice. Česká spořitelna clients can decide for themselves how many crowns their payment will be rounded off. Whether by ten, twenty or thirty crowns. Such flexibility gives users control over how quickly they want to build their financial reserve.

Accessibility for all

Another plus is that the Platím a spořím service can be used by all clients of Česká spořitelna, even those who have not yet had a savings account. Enabling this feature is easy and intuitive through George’s digital banking. Banking thus enables quick and convenient activation of the service.

Effortless financial reserve

Lukáš Pudil, head of the Personalization department at Česká spořitelna, emphasizes the importance of the new service for improving the financial health of clients. Thanks to Pay and Save, saving is painless and efficient. The more the client pays with the card, the more money is automatically transferred to the savings account.

The success of the pilot operation

The pilot operation of the service showed its great potential. With more than 82,000 clients who have activated the service, and a total amount of over 58.3 million crowns transferred to savings accounts, it is clear that Platím a spořím has a lot to offer. Thanks to it, clients who used the service sent an average of 240 crowns per month to their savings accounts. By doing so, they created a financial reserve with minimal effort.

More than just savings

Česká spořitelna did not stop its innovation efforts only with the Platím a spořím service. The Moneyback discount program, launched in the summer of 2020, supplements the bank’s offer with cashback for purchases at selected merchants. The combination of these services gives clients the opportunity to save thousands of crowns annually, which is another step towards better financial health.

Antecedents and inspirations

It is not the first time that a similar service has appeared on the Czech market. Equa bank, ČSOB and mBank have previously introduced services focused on small savings with each payment. These services, each with its own unique setting, laid the foundation for the development of Platím a sporím. They thus showed the interest of Czech consumers in innovative financial instruments.

Česká spořitelna comes at the right time with the new Platím a spořím. It offers a simple but extremely effective way to build up a financial reserve. With a combination of convenience, flexibility and accessibility, this service opens the door to better financial health for the general public.
