The EODY has sounded the alarm after the third case of meningitis at the University of Patras.
“I have communicated early this morning with the EODY and possibly an echelon will come tomorrow, in order to decide exactly what instructions will be given to the University on what needs to be done,” the commander of the 6th Health Region, Giannis, told APE-MPE Karvelis,
Regarding the measures taken after the case of meningitis in a student studying in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Peloponnese, which is housed in the facilities of the former TEI of Patras together with other faculties of the University of Patras, Yannis Karvelis stated that “the protocol provides for specific measures and the relevant instructions have already been given”.
It should be noted that at the end of February a 20-year-old student of the University of Patras was diagnosed with meningitis, while in mid-January an 18-year-old student was also diagnosed with meningitis.
The 20-year-old is hospitalized in a critical condition at “Agios Andreas” and is expected to be transferred to the University Hospital of Patras.
