Former presidential candidate Manuel “El Chino” Flores said his party, the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN), needs a “total change.” Therefore, he will register for the general secretary in order to “citizenize” the party and change the way of doing politics.
«If you have to register to lead the party, I am going to register, I have already announced it. I am definitely going to sign up to lead the FMLN for the next 5 years,” said Flores in the Diálogo interview with Ernesto López.
Manuel Flores proposed that young people and especially those who participated as candidates “bravely” will be encouraged to assume control of the territories.
“We are going to citizenize the FMLN, therefore, I think we must be responsible and serious, make a concrete analysis, the division of the party cannot continue any longer, the groups cannot continue any longer.” “Either do we change the method and strategy or begin to prepare the conditions to disappear?” questioned Manuel Flores.
The former candidate maintained that his style is -unity- and “I have always called for unity with force and coherence and that is what I am going to do in the party.”
The FMLN did not manage to get candidates into the Legislative Assembly or into the municipal elections according to the data known to the Supreme Electoral Tribunal. Only two seats would be in dispute for the Central American Parliament.
