Bogotá DC, March 6, 2024. More than 311,000 teachers throughout the country will be able to access their own housing through the agreement that the Government of Change, headed by the Ministries of Education and Housing, signed with the National Savings Fund (FNA) and Fiduprevisora.
The Vice Minister of Education, Óscar Sánchez, pointed out that this program “will allow teachers to have the credit they require to purchase their home.”

This agreement provides as benefits the exemption of charges for appraisals, title studies and credit studies so that educators can easily acquire their property.
“Educators are going to have 50 basis points less in the interest rate so that they can make that decision to buy a home. In addition, we are not going to charge them for the appraisal, because what we are looking for from the Government is to reduce the costs of Colombians and that they can make that decision to acquire their property,” said the president of the National Savings Fund, Laura Roa.
How to apply for a housing loan?
The official explained that the teaching staff must have a voluntary savings account with the FNA.
“Once it is opened, they will be able to do this automatic debit with Fiduprevisora and that amount will be deducted from their payroll, so that they have 1.2 minimum wages saved in their account and thus be able to make the request for credit,” he said.
The president of Fecode, Domingo Ayala, stated that “through these agreements we can access aid that generates guarantees of decent housing for teachers.”
According to figures from the National Savings Fund, only 30% of the country’s educators have their own home. For this reason, the president of Fiduprevisora pointed out that “through this agreement, teachers will be able to use the capillarity of the 71 offices of the FNA and the 14 of the Fiduprevisora and generate an easier channel for accessing their severance pay.”
