Supporting video, the Ukrainian Air Force officially confirmed that it had received and started using the French AASM Hammer bomb on the battlefield.
On January 16, Emmanuel Macron announced the transfer to Ukraine of “several hundred bombs”. At the same time, the Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, specified that these would be AASM-propelled air-to-ground bombs. Since then, no images or videos have shown the use of this bomb in Ukraine.
However, a video published this Monday March 4 on Telegram by the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mikola Oleshchuk, shows an explosion in a village in Kherson Oblast. At the end of the video, we see the insertion of a partial image of an AASM 250 on which a message has been written in Cyrillic, confirming their presence in Ukraine and their use on the battlefield.
Ukraine has released a first video confirming that it is now dropping French-donated AASM Hammer guided bomb against Russian positions.

Guided and propelled
Modular Air-Ground Weapons (AASM or A2SM), also called Hammer (Highly Agile Modular Ammunition Extended Range), is a bomb developed and produced by Safran Electronics & Defense. Unlike conventional aerial bombs, this one has a guidance system but of a propulsion system allowing extended firing during a very low altitude drop while the aircraft flies within range of enemy anti-aircraft systems.
The AASM Hammer can be launched from a variety of platforms, including the Dassault-designed Mirage and Rafale, but the AFU is likely to use these bombs with Soviet Su-24, Su-25, Su-27 aircraft. and MiG-29.
