Final Fantasy VII Rebirth can easily be considered one of the most talked-about productions of 2024, but we can suspect that if the title was also released on Xbox Series X|S, it would not offer such a large and attractive world. During a recent interview, Yoshinori Kitase commented on the matter.
In an interview with a journalist from The Washington Post, the producer of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth explained in detail the issue of exclusivity of the latest remake. The RPG is only available on PlayStation 5 and will not be available on other devices for the next few months.

During the interview, we were assured that bringing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to other devices would ultimately negatively impact the state of the game. By implementing the adventure of Cloud and friends exclusively on PlayStation 5, the creators were able to focus solely on implementing the most refined vision possible.
If the game was not available only on one platform, the world map would not be refined and the production design would have to deteriorate significantly.
Square Enix could focus on using the platform’s potential and offering the best possible quality. The Japanese did not have to waste time on the implementation of ports – although in the future, the title, like Final Fantasy VII Remake, should be released on personal computers.
In contrast, cross-platform game development typically requires more work that focuses on porting rather than iterating game design.
It is worth emphasizing that Christian Svensson, who is vice president of strategic projects and initiatives at PlayStation, commented on the topic of exclusivity of the Final Fantasy VII trilogy for PlayStation.
