Cubans have denounced on social networks the murder of a couple in the municipality of Guisa, in the province of Granma.
According to lawyer Manuel Viera, the incident occurred during the early hours of Sunday, March 3, and the victims were identified as Rubiaxy Martínez and Yendris Espinosa.
The complaint indicates that the aggressor responds to the name of Javier Batista Arceo, who was Martínez’s ex-partner. He would have stabbed the couple while he was sleeping, escaping from the crime scene located in the Los Pajales neighborhood.
The lawyer points out that the man died violently, while the woman survived the attack, but some sources maintain that she lost her life due to the injuries she suffered.
“The male victim’s throat was slit, his genitals cut off and inserted into his mouth, he died instantly. The young woman who survived the incident suffered multiple stab wounds in the neck, back and genitals and in the afternoon she had to undergo emergency surgery,” the publication reads.
“Sad what we are experiencing today in our country! The levels of violence are already overwhelming, but the silence is even more annoying! Turning our backs on reality will not keep us from it! I love the people of Guise. So much so that I married a guisera, I receive this with pain. Receive my respects and condolences, family and friends,” the user added in the publication.
Information shared on social networks indicates that the 31-year-old woman left behind two small children, who were the children of the alleged murderer.
At the moment, independent feminist platforms in Cuba have not been able to confirm the murder of the woman, but this would be the 11th feminicide recorded in Cuba since 2024 began. Likewise, the official press has remained silent, something common in this type of crimes.
The lawyer indicated this Monday that, despite other versions shared on Facebook, the young woman continues to be admitted to the hospital, but this is something that cannot be officially confirmed until the state media pronounces on the matter.
“First-hand I have learned that the girl is alive, that she underwent surgery and has not yet woken up from the operation. The photos of the girl in her bed in the hospital are impressive, she is unrecognizable and not suitable for dissemination,” Viera indicated, committing to update the people about the situation.
