Amazon founder Jeff Bezos climbs back to the top of the world’s billionaires index Bloombergsurpassing him Ilon Maskwho had stripped him of the title in 2021.
According to the ranking given on Monday, to the public, the estate of Bezos now amounts to 200 billion dollarssurpassing that of Maskvalued at 198 billion dollars.
The French CEO of luxury goods group LVMH Bernard Arno remains in Tuesday position of the ranking of the people with the greatest fortunes in the world, with 197 billion dollars.
THE Bezoswho will no longer run Amazon, which he founded in 1994, from July 2021, benefited mainly from the strong performance of the online sales giant’s shares, of which he remains the main shareholder, and the sale of shares in the group in last few weeks totaling $8.5 billion.
The sale of those shares, however, could once again cost him the top spot on that list because of the capital gains taxes he will have to pay to the US tax authorities, according to the Wall Street Journal.
THE Ilon Mask saw his fortune drop by more than $30 billion due to the decline in Tesla’s value, which has lost nearly 25% over the past 12 months.
