In this context, it is explained that, to avoid repeating matches in the Champions League, each team will face eight opponents from different pots (chosen by draw), in what is known as the Swiss format. From the Union of European Football Associations, they said in this regard: “In this way, clubs will have the opportunity to face a wider range of rivals and fans will be able to see the best teams face each other more often and earlier in the competition.”
In relation to classification, the top eight teams in the general group will automatically qualify for the round of 16, while those that finish in 9th and 24th places will compete to see who advances to the playoffs. Finally, those who remain between 25th and 36th places will be eliminated.
