We don’t have good news for players counting down to the release of Capcom’s latest dragon production. The game receives excellent opinions from journalists who could check the gameplay, but the Japanese did not decide to prepare a performance mode on consoles.
We wrote about 30 frames in Dragon’s Dogma 2 a few weeks ago, when Hideaki Itsuno suggested that the production would run in better quality on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, the game’s director revealed the details before the premiere.

Game Informer editors confirm that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will not receive a performance mode and a graphics mode on current generation consoles. Many developers provide players with the choice of whether they want to check a given position in a more spectacular setting at 30 fps or prefer to run at 60 frames per second.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 will deliver “unlimited frames per second” on all platforms, with the developers’ goal being around 30 frames per second on consoles.
The game has unlimited frames per second. Our goal is to reach around 30 frames per second or higher. This also applies to consoles. Some features can be turned on and off, but there are not multiple sets of options that can be changed at once [prawdopodobnie nawiązuje to do ustawień wizualnych dostępnych obecnie w opcjach innych gier na konsolach – przyp. red.]. But yes, the frame rate will not be capped for all consoles.
A Game Informer journalist asked for an explanation of Itsuno’s words, who added that Dragon’s Dogma 2 only has one visual mode.
Considering the scale of production, the decision seems a bit incomprehensible. We don’t know exactly what the gameplay will look like yet, but jumping 30-50-60 fps during action and fights with large monsters may have a significant impact on the experience. If only the hardware would provide us with “at least” 30 frames.
