A surprising natural phenomenon impacted a group of Miami fishermen this Sunday, March 3, after they captured a group of sharks attacking each other.
The phenomenon was captured near Government Cut, a channel that represents the main access to the Port of Miami, and which is quite close to some of the most popular beaches among bathers.
Through the Instagram account The Real Mark The Shark, the video was shared in which some fishermen tell what their encounter was like when they saw the shark practically commit cannibalism.
One of the men said that they were sailing in a boat in the aforementioned channel, and that they had just captured a shark when another appeared out of nowhere and attacked the first one, which was still in the fishing pit.
The fishermen were even more surprised when they realized that the predator that took their prey was nothing less than a white shark, one of the largest, which can measure up to 7 meters long.
The publication warned that there have recently been sightings of white sharks on Florida beaches, since just last week two were seen at shallow depths, just 15 meters underwater, an unusual depth for this species in pelagic seas.
“Great white eats another shark that was on the line. This was a while ago on Government Cut. Last week, two great whites were caught in 50 feet of water. Very strange what has been happening lately. Just be alert!!!”, wrote the profile to accompany the video.
The encounter comes after a great white shark was captured and released last week after becoming entangled in a fishing line, and that, Just a few days later, another was found dead on the beachstill without knowing the reason for his death.
Despite these sightings, experts consulted by Miami Certified stressed that the population should not panic, since sharks are not particularly dangerous animals for humans as long as their space is respected.
Likewise, they pointed out that, although fear should not increase among bathers, since shark “attacks” are isolated incidents, the behavioral patterns of these predators do seem to be changing.
“There is no need to panic, but in recent months, something is changing. Last week two different great whites were caught in 50 feet of water. And today in the inlet (close to land) another great white was eating sharks. “I’m going to publish some videos soon!” they suggest, while calling for greater involvement from the scientific community to try to elucidate what is happening.
At the moment, the reasons for the presence of white sharks on Florida beaches remain uncertain, pending further studies on their behavior.
