SALZBURG. On February 16, 2024, the city of Salzburg began issuing voting cards for the municipal council and mayoral elections on March 10, 2024. By Tuesday, March 5, 2024, around 12,000 had been issued. The opportunity to obtain an absentee ballot ends on Thursday.
Election service expects up to 14,000 voting cards
In Mirabell Palace, entrance 11, room 25 (next to city service), you can pick up your voting card in person at the issuing office – and cast your vote at the same time. Identity must be proven with an analogue photo ID (e.g. passport, ID card, driving license).
Voting cards can be applied for by Thursday, March 7th, 4 p.m. at the latest. In this case, the election service recommends: Apply for a voting card in person at Mirabell Palace on Wednesday (March 6th) or Thursday (March 7th), as postal delivery is no longer guaranteed if the application is submitted in writing.
The election service is expecting a new record of up to 14,000 voting cards for this local council and mayoral election. The city of Salzburg announced that the voting cards are intended by the legislature for those eligible voters who cannot go to their polling station on Sunday, March 10, 2024 due to absence or other reasons.
