Pistorius: Serious personal mistake of our military – 2024-03-05 15:02:01

Boris Pistorius – Minister of Defense of Germany

Boris Pistorius, Germany’s defense minister, explained that the recent leak of information from a conversation between senior officers was a serious “personal mistake”. The conversation was in connection with deliveries of Taurus missiles to Kiev. This was reported by the world agencies and BTA.

A personal mistake because one of the officers was involved in it through an “unsecured connection,” AFP reported. The imposition of disciplinary punishment on the soldier in question is to be discussed, added the minister, quoted by Reuters.

The conversation between German officers was published on Friday by Russian journalist and editor-in-chief of state-run RT television Margarita Simonyan. In it, high-ranking representatives of the Air Force discuss the theoretical possibilities of deploying German Taurus cruise missiles in Ukraine, DPA noted.

Russia likely intercepted the military call by accident as part of a large-scale operation and not as a result of targeted spying or surveillance, Pistorius said. The use of WebEx for the conversation was permitted.

Germany will take technical and organizational measures to ensure that such an incident does not happen again, the defense minister added.

The Bundeswehr’s communications system is generally reliable, Pistorius assured a press conference,

also stating that Allied confidence in Germany “remains intact”.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised a quick clarification of the case. It is a “very serious matter,” Scholz said during a visit to the Vatican on Saturday.

Bel.ed.: But Minister Pistorius is not talking about computers, but compotes! Because it is not at all a question of how exactly the officers were recorded. The problem is that after the chancellor of Germany categorically stated that Taurus missiles will not be sent to Ukraine, senior German officers are discussing not whether, but rather how to send them! And it is clear from their conversation that “observers” from their and other NATO countries are present as specialists in direct military actions in Ukraine. So the question remains open: Does the Chancellor of Germany know what he is doing and how the army of the country entrusted to him operates? And does it have the power to determine the direction and extent of these actions?
