Relatives of a Cuban murdered in Louisville, Kentucky, have revealed more information about the case, pointing out that the victim, Alaín García Pérez, 45, was in his home when he was brutally attacked with a blunt object.
The sister of the deceased, Edith García, told the media Telemundo 51 that his brother and his attacker came to live together in the same house, and that he spoke a lot about him.
“He told me it was a boy who was living with him. He asked her for accommodation and she said yes. And he even got him a job, but the boy didn’t want to work and look what he did to him,” the woman told the aforementioned media.
The deceased’s mother, 83 years old, resides in Havana, and now must deal with the fact that she lost her son under these unfortunate circumstances. García Pérez’s sister wants the woman to be able to fly to the United States to say goodbye to her son, or at least take the remains back to the Island.
Who is the murderer of Pérez García?
The murderer is another citizen of Cuban origin identified as Liobys Caro Mena, who was arrested in Miami-Dade County last week after a chase. The subject was seen while driving the deceased’s vehicle, which caused the authorities to try to stop him.
It is known that Caro Mena arrived in the United States approximately a year and a half ago, and he attacked his roommate with a blunt object until he died. After that, he took his car and headed to Florida.
Miami-Dade officers spotted Caro Mena driving a red Chevrolet Camaro. This vehicle was described by the Kentucky authorities in charge of the murder, who indicated that the suspect may have headed to the orange state.
The police tried to stop him, but Caro Mena tried to escape aboard the vehicle, starting a chase that ended after it crashed near the intersection of Northwest 119th Street.
The suspect’s vehicle ended up overturned after hitting at least six vehicles, but he was the only one seriously injured, so he was taken to a nearby hospital where he remained escorted by police officers.
After receiving a medical discharge, Caro Mena was placed under arrest and charged with several charges in Florida for attempting to escape from police. These accusations are in addition to those he has in Kentucky.
On March 15, a hearing will be held for him to be extradited to Kentucky to be tried for the murder of García Pérez. At the moment, the subject remains detained with bail of $30,000.
