A Cuban family has asked for help to locate one of its members in the Laredo area, in the state of Texas, who disappeared at the end of January without leaving any trace.
According to the media Telemundo 51the missing person was identified as Rigoberto Sánchez, 62, who lived in Florida and had to move to Texas for work reasons.
His son indicated that no one knows anything about him, and that he had last been seen at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, January 30.
Rigoberto’s loved ones point out that the Texas police released a statement asking for the community’s support in this search, but that a month has passed without him being found.
“His family is in Florida and they are looking for him, and we have not been successful in locating him,” said investigator Joe Baeza of the Laredo Police Department during a news conference in mid-February.
According to a detective with whom the aforementioned media had contact, these types of cases are rare in the Laredo area.
His last known whereabouts was in the 4800 block of Justo Penn, where he was seen driving a dark blue 2015 Chevy Traverse, which has distinctive stickers along the windows.
The missing man’s son points out that he crossed the border into Mexico to attend a medical appointment, and that he later returned to the United States. However, information on him was no longer available after this point.
The family urges anyone with information related to the whereabouts of Rigoberto Sánchez to contact Laredo police at (956)-795-2800. These calls can be made anonymously.
Police recommend calling authorities if you find a person reported missing. Additionally, they advise not approaching suddenly, because, if this person is in a delicate state of health, this can be taken as a threat, causing the person to leave the place.
Among the other recommendations given by the police is to maintain a safe distance and try to communicate with the person in a calm and friendly manner until the relevant authorities arrive.
