The Government began the first round of the cycling event called Tour El Salvador 2024, Grand Prix Surf City, which brings together 16 teams from around the world.
This large-scale sporting event that began this day will end on March 13 and will travel through the different roads of the national territory. Among the participating countries are El Salvador, Switzerland, Spain, Panama, Guatemala, Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Italy, the United States, Honduras and Ukraine.
The first cycling tour called Grand Prix Surf City left from the National Palace in San Salvador, until reaching La Libertad. During the tour, temporary street closures were carried out in the Historic Center of San Salvador to maintain the safety of the athletes.
«I am super proud to be part of this event, we have two groups from El Salvador made up of other people who are foreigners, but representing our national brands is a great achievement for us. This event has not been held for 10 years and it is good that it is being resumed thanks to the support of the Government, which promotes sport, in this case women’s cycling,” said the Salvadoran athlete, Sauking Shi.
In this first round, the athlete from Cyprus, Antri Christoforou-Cyclist, came in first place, and the Italian cyclist, Elena Pirrone took second place.
The El Salvador 2024 Tour is an example of the commitment to promoting physical activity and domestic tourism, and also promotes the image of the country as a sports destination. This event encourages healthy competition among participants, and highlights the country’s natural and cultural attractions.
