The National Assembly has censured and dismissed the member of the Judiciary Council with 102 votes Fausto Murilloand censored the former member Juan José Morillo. 92 votes were needed. The Construye movement has immediately reported the dismissal of the alternate assemblyman Francisco Díaz, who voted for Murillo’s censure, and what it has described as “put your hands on the Judiciary”. In a harsh statement published in X, Construye has indicated that “Whoever agrees with the agenda of impunity and mafias cannot be part” of the movement.
They have also said that they are waiting for explanations from the incumbent assemblywoman Alexandra Castillo.
He has already been dismissed before
It is not the first time that a majority made up of the Social Christian Party and Correism have dismissed Fausto Murillo from the Judiciary Council. In April 2021, Murillo was removed by the Citizen Participation and Social Control Council, CPCCS, chaired by Sofía Almeidadescribed as close to the Christian Social Party.
