Controversy Surrounding Mohamed Ramadan’s Abu Ubaida Movie Sparks Outrage on Social Media

A picture of Egyptian star Mohamed Ramadan titled: “Abu Ubaida Movie” sparked widespread anger on social media, as Ramadan appeared to be wearing what looked like a keffiyeh on his head.

The pioneers of these sites wondered whether Ramadan had finished filming a movie/series of his that he had talked about at a previous stage in an attempt to provoke the Israeli enemy with the beginning of the aggression on Gaza.

Ramadan then appeared in a video clip in which he mocked an Israeli channel that demanded a boycott of his work, and responded by saying, “My name in the next series is Abu Ubaida,” in reference to the official spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades.

Activists on the “X” website attacked Muhammad Ramadan on the grounds that he is not fit for the role of Abu Ubaida, neither in terms of form nor in terms of importance, and that everything he does is merely persistent attempts to ride the “trend.”

Some went on to demand a boycott of Muhammad Ramadan in parallel with a boycott of Israeli products.
On the other hand, others considered that there is no series or movie by Muhammad Ramadan in which he embodies the character of Abu Ubaida, but rather that he chose the name for one of his upcoming works with the aim of mobilizing the public.
