Riots in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, continues. This chaos, marked by gunfire, has occurred since the end of February.

Armed groups are trying to overthrow the Prime Minister of Haiti, Ariel Henry. The latest news, the Haitian government declared a state of emergency and curfew in an effort to regain control of the country.

A curfew is in effect from 18.00 to 05.00 in the Ouest region, including the capital, until next Wednesday, as quoted by the AFP news agency, Monday (4/3/2024).

For your information, based on observations by AFP reporters at the location, around 12 people died when gang members attacked the National Penitentiary in Port-au-Prince. The attack occurred from Saturday night to last Sunday.

The attack came as part of a new series of extreme violence by heavily armed gangs that control much of the city. These gangs want to overthrow PM Ariel Henry.

“We found many bodies of prisoners,” said Pierre Esperance.

Observing the AFP reporter, the bodies were outside the prison, and there was almost no one inside. Some of the bodies had wounds from bullets or other projectiles.
