In the fight for the vacant SP seat in the Basel government, Mustafa Atici (SP) is at the top, followed by Luca Urgese (FDP) and Jérôme Thiriet (Greens). Conradin Cramer (LDP) has so far received the most votes in the race for regional council. This is shown by the interim results of the votes submitted by letter.
According to the State Chancellery, the former SP National Councilor Atici received 23,322 votes from postal voters in the government council replacement election. He is currently 4,208 votes short of the absolute majority.
Absolutely more has not yet been achieved
The opposing candidate Urgese, who was jointly ported by the bourgeois parties and the SVP, got 20,192 votes and Thiriet got 7,904 votes. According to the interim results, the absolute majority is 27,530 votes, which as of now none of the three candidates have achieved.
After the election of Beat Jans (SP) to the Federal Council, a seat in the Basel executive and the regional council must be filled. Atici, Urgese and Thiriet are running for the vacant seat in the government, while Atici, Thiriet and the incumbent education director Cramer are fighting for the presidency.
Second round probably
In the election to the regional council, Cramer leads with 26,116 votes, followed by Atici with 17,867 votes and Thiriet with 5,552 votes. As of now, Cramer is 311 votes short of the absolute majority of 26,427 votes.
The final results are expected to be announced from 6 p.m. However, according to the interim results, a second round of voting for the government council is likely. This will take place on April 7th.
