Wild pursuit in Igoumenitsa – 98 kilograms of cannabis were seized – 2024-03-04 03:24:10

A significant amount of drugs 98.5 kg, processed and raw cannabiswas seized at noon in Mazarakia, Thesprotia, by the Narcotics Prosecution Department of the Security Sub-Directorate Igoumenitsawhile a 24-year-old Greek and a 36-year-old Albanian were arrested.

In particular, everything started in Igoumenitsa, when men from the Prosecution together with police officers from the Igoumenitsa Traffic Department attempted to check a car, in which the two arrested persons were riding.

The driver did not comply with a signal from the police, developed speed to escape and a chase ensued. The police stopped the car in the Mazarakia area of ​​Igoumenitsa, when it collided with a parked car.

The defendants abandoned their vehicle and tried to run away, but the police managed to arrest them. Inside the car, 66 packages of raw cannabis, with a total weight of 87.5 kg, and 10 packages of processed cannabis, “chocolate”, weighing 11 kg, were found and confiscated.

Also, the car was confiscated, which as it emerged from the investigation, belongs to a prisoner in Korydallos prisons. It was also established that the driver of the car lacks a driver’s license, while the administrative measure of banning entry into the country had been imposed against the Albanian. Those arrested with the case filed against them, for transport and trafficking of drugs, disobedience and violations regarding foreigners and road traffic code, will be taken to the public prosecutor of Plimmeliodiki Thesprotia.
