The Korean entertainment world has taken the world by storm in recent years, especially with the rise of Kpop groups. As such, it’s perhaps no surprise that there are Kdramas that use the entertainment industry in general, and K-pop in particular, as inspiration for their stories.
If you want to get a glimpse into the love lives of Korean celebrities, here are 5 Kdramas to add to your list.
Having achieved the celebrity status that most young idols can only dream of, there is no doubt that Luis (Chani) is at the top of his game. Known worldwide for his music, he has worked hard to make it to the top.
But even though he’s one of the most popular artists in the world, Luis constantly worries about another artist taking his place, especially since idol group “N/S” is gaining popularity. Once reluctant to participate in an idol audition, Min Si Woo (Hwi Young) is convinced by her best friend, Lee Soo Rin (Kang Min Ah), a former trainee turned content creator for a rising idol. After impressing the judges during the audition, Si Woo vows to one day become a better singer than Luis and signs a contract that will change his life forever.
“The Beauty Inside,” a drama adaptation of a popular film directed by Han Hyo-ju, is about a romantic relationship between a woman who lives for a week out of a month with someone else’s face and a man who Does not recognize people’s faces.
“Let Me Be Your Knight” tells the story of a romance between a famous global star (part of the fictional idol group LUNA) suffering from sleepwalking and the doctor who enters the group’s dormitory in order to secretly treat him .
Hoo Joon (Choi Tae Joon) is one of the biggest stars in South Korea’s entertainment industry. He attends an event at a new nightclub. Lee Geun Young (Choi Sooyoung), who aspires to become a magazine journalist, is sent to the opening party, where she unwittingly witnesses brutal and rude behavior from Hoo Joon – then she commits the mistake of covering him in vomit.
Later, the magazine decides to fire her and she assumes that it was Hoo Joon who instigated her dismissal. Revolted, she decides to organize a demonstration on her own in front of the offices of the star’s agency. The media noticed her protest and she became known as its number one “anti-fan”.
The production team of a new entertainment show not lacking in opportunism decides to take advantage of Lee Geun Young’s sudden notoriety. The producers go to see her to tell her about their concept: a star is forced to live with her biggest “anti-fan”. At first, Lee Geun Young is hesitant, but losing her job has left her penniless and the fee for appearing on the show is high enough to entice her to accept. Hoo Joon isn’t too keen on the idea either. But a sudden drop in popularity forced him to think again.
Maha, member of the Tea Party girl group. Maha is a recognized idol in the music industry, however she became famous partly due to her striking resemblance to soloist Larima, but also because she imitates the latter’s behavior to gain popularity. This notoriety is viewed negatively by Ryoc, member of the male group SHAX, who does not appreciate the fact that Maha is building her career in this way.
Being in the same agency, Ryoc keeps crossing paths with Maha and begins to develop affection and feelings for her. Then begins a sweet romance which must absolutely remain secret in front of everyone.
