On December 5, 2014, at 7 p.m., they will have their first meeting with the public in the role of the Spanish gypsy Frasquita – Valentina Korchakova. As the French aristocrat Armand Mirbeau, who becomes the target of Frasquita’s revenge, we will see Marcho Apostolov. Milena Gyurova will play Dolly, who is Armand’s fiancee, but actually turns out to be married to his friend Ippolit – played by Alexander Mutafchiyski. Dolly’s father, the manufacturer Aristid Giraud, will be reincarnated by the bass Lachezar Lazarov.
After successfully making their debut in the children’s musical “Charles the Cat” and winning the applause of the youngest viewers of the Musical Theater, four graduates of the “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” Academy of Music will make their debuts in classical operetta as well. Velin Mihailov will be the young gypsy Sebastiano, who is in love with Frasquita. The owner of the coastal cafe Juan will be Kalin Dushkov. Anna Vutova and Elitsa Zheleva will be Ines and Lola, the two dancers in the “Alhambra” bar, who will tire father Giro of dancing. The owner of the infamous bar in Barcelona that still exists today will be played by Ivan Panev. We will see Georgi Khandzhiev and Alexander Panayotov as the beggars Sancho and Pedro, Todor Velkov will play Arman Philip’s valet, and Ralitsa Ankova and Desislava Todorova are the charming barmaids from whom no one refuses to buy a drink.
The premiere is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of the great Bulgarian conductor Boris Hinchev, who was the conductor-director of the last production of “Fraskita” on the stage of the “Stefan Makedonski” National Music Theater staged in the 1986/1987 season. The conductor of this last production, Yuli Damyanov, is now a conductor-producer. The direction is by the guest director from Romania, Stefan Nyagrău. And another debut for the Musical Theater marks this production – by set designer Nikolay Nikolov. The costumes are by Tsvetanka Petkova – Stoynova, and the hot Spanish rhythms were set by the choreographer Antoaneta Alexieva. With the participation of the orchestra, choir and ballet of the National Music Theater “Stefan Makedonski”.
