Dora Bakoyannis chose a wording that will undoubtedly trigger reactions within New Democracy, among the “Macedonian fighters” and beyond.
In particular, in an event held as part of the conference “METAPOLITISI: 50 Years Later”, Mrs. Bakoyannis was on the same panel as Nikos Kotzias and Evangelos Venizelos, analyzing issues related to foreign policy.
He recognized the negotiation of Nikos Kotzias
The former foreign minister said about the Prespa Agreement that “the naming issue was a success of Mr. Kotzias’ negotiation.” In fact, a little while earlier, Antonis Samaras said at the same conference that “I feel that in Prespes we have betrayed generations and generations of games”, showing the huge contradictions that prevail within the blue faction.
However, Mrs. Bakoyannis, who has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs, admitted the success of the SYRIZA government, and of Nikos Kotzias, which was recorded at the moment when the ND turned a blind eye to the Macedonian fighters.
Furthermore, Mrs. Bakoyanni pointed out that the veto of the Karamanlis government in 2008 was “100% wrong”.
Finally, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs at the time, Costas Karamanlis, noted that she disagreed with the Prespa Agreement, regarding the issues of identity and language.
