One of the Greeks Abroad who complained by name and publicly that they received an advertising e-mail from the ND MEP will appeal to the courts Anna Michelle Asimakopoulou, which chose this way to “run” its personal election campaign for the European elections, even though it had not received the slightest permission to use their personal data. SYRIZA also decided and announced the appeal to justice for the same case.
After the answer that given by Mrs. Asimakopoulou herself in which he talks about … “smudge attack” claiming that he received permission from the citizens themselves to have their data, the Greek academic Panagiotis Pavlos, one of the recipients of the e-mail in question, announced that he will appeal to the justice system. In fact, he fires at the MEP, accusing her of “brazen and brazen lies”.

He specifically writes in his post on the X platform:
Lady @AnnaAsimakopoul, I have NEVER – EVER – given you any of my Email. And you NEVER asked me for permission to send any message, as you falsely state in your self-defense message below. Your email today is the first I have received with your name on it. I’ve been waiting for an apology to review. But as you commit age-unacceptable brazen and brazen LIES, you now force me to take legal action against your own illegal act, so that the Norwegian authorities can decide whether your claim is true.

SYRIZA: A serious blow to the integrity of the electoral process
SYRIZA also issued a statement on the issue, which emphasizes that there is a question about the integrity of the electoral process and announces that it will inform the judiciary and the competent European institutions.
The announcement in detail:
“Confidence in the electoral administration system from the post-colonial period until today has received the strongest blow during the days of the Mitsotakis government.
The e-mail addresses of expatriate Greeks around the world, from America to Japan, received today messages from ND MEP Anna Michele Asimakopoulou as part of her personal election campaign ahead of the European elections.
According to named complaints by Greek citizens, no acceptance for receiving advertising material from the specific representative of Greece in the European Parliament, as required by the GDPR, had preceded. Even more worryingly, many of the complainants had only used their emails to register on overseas voter lists.
After the passing of Law 4648/2019 for voters abroad, applications have been created with information for voters (emails, telephone numbers) which, however, are not available in the copies of the electoral rolls received by the parties, due to the protection of personal data.
To these data, which should be owned exclusively by the political leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and to protect them, it is proven that Mitsotakis’ chosen government, Mrs. Asimakopoulou, has access.
The personal data of Greek citizens, which the Greek state must protect under European legislation, is offered as a gift to Ms. Asimakopoulou’s election campaign by Ms. Kerameos. The doubts that SYRIZA-PS had expressed from the beginning regarding the use of voter data are unfortunately confirmed in a deafening way.
The fact is a very serious blow to the integrity of the electoral process and to the confidence of the electorate, shortly before the elections with the new postal voting process.
SYRIZA PS pledges to inform both the Greek Justice and the competent European institutions in order to defend the quality of our Republic, as well as the solvency and credibility of the political system that the Mitsotakis administration undermines, in the name of all the citizens who were victims of a flagrant violation of their personal data and denounced this illegal tactic followed by an active MEP thus violating European and national law with the assistance of the political leadership of the Ministry of the Interior”.
