Garmin yesterday announced new software and feature updates for select smartwatches, including the epix™ (2nd generation), fēnix® 7, Forerunner®, vívoactive® 5 and Venu® 3 series smartwatches, among others. Additionally, Garmin’s lightweight and soft UltraFit nylon straps are available in new colors including Flame Red and Blue Granite.
This freeware version includes the following important features:
• Multisport automatic transition: When doing multisport, focus on the race and let the watch take care of recording the intervals between swimming, cycling and running.
• Running Track Database: With over 10,000 tracks (400 meters) worldwide, use the Track Running Activity Profile to get an accurate performance measurement – even on a track you’ve never run on.
• Sleep Coach: Find a balance between challenges and the body’s natural recovery process with personalized sleep coaching that provides insight into the recommended amount of sleep and tips on how to achieve it. Garmin smartwatches also track various sleep stages, dienduses, and other metrics (measured during sleep) such as Pulse Ox and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) status.
• Skipping activities: Choose between free and target mode (preferred time or number of reps) to track duration, total reps and reps, rep info, record, heart rate, calories burned and jump rate. It also offers a customizable alert interval and countdown timer.
New colors of UltraFit nylon straps
The popular UltraFit nylon straps are now available in new colors. Lightweight and soft, QuickFit™ compatible nylon straps are designed for relentless sports and all-weather outdoor wear. The 20mm strap is now available in Deep Orchid, while the 22mm and 26mm straps are available in Flame Red, Blue Granite and Moss. The recommended retail price of the new straps is EUR 39.99.
Software updates are already rolling out to compatible devices. Customers can update their smartwatch by turning on automatic updates on their device and syncing with Garmin Connect™ or using Garmin Express™. For a comprehensive list of features for the respective devices, click here.
