About Xiaomi’s mistake and the company’s new products
This week, some users of Xiaomi smartphones, as well as Redmi and Poco, encountered a problem. Thus, after updating one of the system components, some devices went into constant reboot mode, and the only way out of the situation was a complete reset of the smartphone. The error is associated with an update intended for HyperOS, which mistakenly ended up on devices with MIUI. But it’s worth saying that not all devices suffered from evil punishment, for example, none of my devices went into an eternal reboot, although a reader wrote in the Telegram channel that his 12T Pro caught this bug. Tell me, did you encounter this error and on what model?
Also in Russia this week, sales of the Xiaomi 14 smartphone started. For the version of the device with a memory capacity of 12+256 GB they are asking 99,990 rubles, and the 12+512 GB version will cost 109,990 rubles. Some networks give customers a Xiaomi Watch S3. By the way, the prices for the new product in our market correspond to European ones, where the model starts at 999 euros. Judging by the reviews of the Western press, the Xiaomi 14 model turned out to be interesting, but the price is still invigorating. So, you see, soon smartphones from the Chinese manufacturer will be equal in cost to the iPhone and Galaxy.
And besides this, Xiaomi announced the cost of its flagship device Xiaomi 14 Ultra in the European market, where the device will cost customers 1,499 euros.

Music smartphone
The Chinese manufacturer ZTE brought the youth music smartphone Nubia Music to MWC 2024. Inside the device there is a Unisoc chip, up to 8 GB of RAM, a dual camera with a 50 MP main module, a 6.6-inch HD+ 90 Hz display and a 5000 mAh battery. But most importantly, the smartphone has an amplified speaker, which, according to the manufacturer, is 600% louder than standard solutions, two 3.5 mm audio jacks and RGB lighting on the rear panel, which can wink in time with the music. The company says the device will be priced at US$149 globally.
I immediately remembered the Motorola E398 from 2004 and the Nokia XpressMusic models from 2006, which also focused on the music component. The only thing is that in the case of Nubia Music it will be a budget device with all that it implies, so you definitely shouldn’t expect revelations and very high-quality sound from it. And so – a funny smartphone for young people and a small experiment from the manufacturer.
Yes, regarding experiments, Lenovo stood out at this MWC exhibition, showing a prototype laptop with a transparent display. A funny thing for shows like this, but so far no real application.
The Chinese manufacturer also brought to Barcelona its bendable Motorola smartphone, which can be hung on your hand on a special bracelet, and simply folded in different ways. If I’m not mistaken, the company has already shown this model at CES.
Since MWC 2024, we had several articles on our website:
Chery celebrated 18 years in Russia
Yes, it turns out that the company has been present on our market for 18 years! Representatives decided not to remember one of the very first models of the brand, the not very successful Chery Amulet sedan, and not to bring it to the celebration, but they assembled a full line of their iconic crossovers, some of which, I’m sure, you haven’t even heard of. So, the first model in Russia, it turns out, was Tiggo 11T, which appeared in 2005. Then there was some pause, and in 2014 they brought us Tiggo 5, in 2017 Tiggo 3 came out, and in 2019 – the first Tiggo 7, with its successors, I think you are already very familiar, as well as with the next one in the line model Tiggo 8 Pro Max. As announced, over 18 years the brand has sold more than 500,000 cars in our market.
In addition, representatives of the brand spoke about the extension of the cooperation agreement with the Spartak football club, as well as about work with the Arithmetic of Good charity foundation, which received from the company more than 11 million rubles for additional and vocational education for orphans.
On the occasion of such an important date for the company, Chery announced the start of sales in Russia of a new modification of its crossover – Tiggo 4 Pro 18 years edition. Externally, the model differs from its predecessor only in different disks, but inside it has become more modern and relevant to the current line of the manufacturer. Thus, the car acquired two 10.25-inch screens combined into a single box, received an option with a two-tone interior and a full range of warm options. In addition, the manufacturer shook up the configurations, making their content more balanced and interesting for buyers. Prices for the updated crossover start at 1,690,000 rubles, which is what they will ask for for the Action MT package with a very good set of options.
We have already talked about the regular version of Tiggo 4 Pro:
On “Sound” with Poco
This week I again managed to get to the “Evening Sound” event, which is held by the Hi-Fi streaming service “Zvuk”, where I listened to live performances by artists, and also heard several compositions before their official release. The latter happens on the platform every Friday; it is on this day that the library is replenished with the newest tracks. For example, this week a new composition by Olga Seryabkina “This is for Love” appeared there.
As before, I went to “Evening Sound” not empty-handed, but taking my new Poco X6 Pro smartphone there to try out its photographic capabilities in difficult lighting. The main camera of the smartphone consists of a 64 MP OmniVision OV64B sensor with an f/1.7 lens aperture and optical stabilization, an 8 MP OV08D ultra-wide-angle module with fixed focus and a 2 MP macro lens.
Honestly, I thought that the device would disappoint me, I even thought about taking the Galaxy S24+ with me instead, even if it has cameras similar to the regular S24. But, to my surprise, Poco X6 Pro performed well. Yes, not all pictures are perfect, yes, you can find fault with some points, but in general the photographs turned out to be interesting, especially for a mid-budget device.
The device itself is quite interesting, inside it is a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra, 8/12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256/512 GB of UFS 4.0 permanent memory. And in AnTuTu the model scores more than 1.3 million points. True, the smartphone has one drawback; it is the glossy surface of the device in black, which collects fingerprints and dust even before you pick up the device. Well, the Poco X6 Pro also comes in the signature bright yellow and silver color options, which are not as easily stained as the black variant.
