NEW YORK — A pre-dawn fire that reportedly broke out in a Manhattan high-rise deli prompted a massive fire response early Friday and left two people injured.

The FDNY sent firefighters to the Harlem Building on Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard around 4:45 a.m. after receiving reports of a fire inside the store, which is located on the ground floor, below several floors of occupied apartments.

Arriving crews found fire on the first and second floors of the building.

At least one firefighter and one civilian were injured in the fierce commotion, the FDNY posted on the social network X (previously known as Twitter) hours later. The injuries were believed to be minor.

A spokesperson told NBC New York that e-bikes were found in the building, but did not say they caused the morning fire.

The cause and origin of the fire continue to be investigated.
