The consul of Turkey in Bulgaria, Tolga Orkun, promised regional governor Plamen Yanev a meeting with Turkish Airlines to discuss a possible future partnership. This happened during a meeting at a time of dissatisfaction on the part of mayors and municipal councils in the Burgas region against the insufficient number of flights to and from Burgas Airport.
The consul of Turkey in Bulgaria Tolga Orkun and Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoglu, rector of the Thrace University in Edirne, were on an official visit to the regional governor Plamen Yanev. Also present were Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Hatipoglu – Deputy Rector, Kamil Kokabash – Director of “International Relations”, Ali Kalkan – Director of the Regional Health Service, Edirne, as well as Prof. Dr. Hassan Aziz – Coordinator of The Program Council for “Public Administration” of the National University of Science and Technology at BSU.
They discussed opportunities for partnership through educational exchange and business initiatives to improve the economic bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Turkey.
At the meeting, Plamen Yanev raised the important question for the city and the region about the decreasing number of flights from and to Burgas airport. He informed the guests about the situation and emphasized the importance of the problem for the region.
The Turkish consul expressed regret for the lack of a direct line between Burgas and Istanbul, pointing out that our land border is not in good condition.
“Both for Mr. Yanev and for me, the good relationship between the two neighboring countries is a priority,” stressed Tolga Orkun. He assured Yanev that he would work in this direction and undertook to promptly organize a meeting with representatives of Turkish Airlines to discuss a possible future partnership.
At the end of the meeting, the guests exchanged symbolic protocol gifts, and the regional governor presented them with martenitsi with wishes for health and luck.
