Donald Trump Appeals Illinois Primary Ballot Removal After Capitol Riot Involvement

Donald Trump is according to the American CBS News appealed after the judge’s ruling. It had decided that Illinois could exclude the former president from participating in the Republican primary election in that American state.

Trump was removed from the ballot on Wednesday for his role in the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Judge Tracie Porter, who handed down the decision, found that Trump violated the anti-insurrection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment of the US Constitution. That is why he is not allowed to participate in the elections in Illinois on March 19.

The same judgment was previously made in Maine and Colorado. Trump also appealed against those decisions.

Trump challenged the Colorado decision in the Supreme Court. Pending the highest courts’ ruling, Maine has suspended Trump’s expulsion.

In other states, politicians and judges also had to make decisions about Trump’s participation in the elections. The Michigan Supreme Court decided not to remove Trump from the ballot. A Democratic minister in California also announced that Trump is participating in the elections in that state.

Many states are awaiting the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling. This will most likely be decisive for whether Trump can participate in this year’s presidential elections.
