Students from Elin Pelin Primary School in Burgas created 1000 martenitsi and 500 cards with spring wishes for doctors and patients from UMBAL Burgas.
With this, classes from 1 to 7 grades are included in the “Kindness Marathon” – an initiative that encourages children to do good deeds.
The martenits and cards were handed over to the deputy director of UMBAL Burgas Dr. Svetoslav Todorov by Valeria Parashkevova – 4th grade, Nikolay Nedelchev – 1st grade, Gergana Serbezova – 6th grade and Ivan Vassilev – 4th grade. The children were accompanied by teachers Stella Naydenova, Ira Petrova and Kolyo Georgiev.
Together with the “goodies” they made, the students from “Elin Pelin” Elementary School sent messages to their classmates – that the patients get better quickly, and that the doctors have less work and more time to rest. Tomorrow the martenichki and cards will be distributed to the patients and the medical staff.
“Kindness Marathon” is an initiative of Victoria Petrova, author of children’s fairy tales and founder of the platform www.detskiprikazki.com. “Goodness boxes” are set up in participating kindergartens and schools and children are encouraged to do at least one good thing a day, which they or their parents write down on a piece of paper and put in the box.
In addition to everyday goodies, the children create cards and drawings to give as gifts to young and old patients in a hospital bed during important holidays.
The marathon will be held for the first time for Christmas in 2023. 317 educational institutions from 139 settlements in Bulgaria, the town hall of the village of Hrabrino and the Bulgarian school “Ivan Vazov” in the city of Essen, Germany, are taking part.
Cards and gifts are received by over 160 institutions, of which 90 pediatric departments in the country and a number of public support centers, centers for accommodation of children without parents, centers for working with children with SEN, etc.
