Surfers Paradise Under Fire: Politicians Review Famous Australian Destination Ahead of Election Campaign

Described as one of Australia’s most famous destinations, Surfers Paradise is a favorite destination for tourists from all over the world. However, the area, which is located in the city of Gold Coast, is being reviewed by the politicians in the area, in connection with this year’s election campaign.

“It smells like a toilet,” says councilor candidate Mona Hecke.

That’s what the newspaper writes News.com.

Some of the world’s best beaches are located in Surfers Paradise, and the district will be owned by the travel company Kilroy described as “the ultimate dream destination for surfing, relaxation and luxury living” – with a mix of modern city life and laid-back beach life.

– Not enough

A plan to revitalize the district was approved some time ago, and 40 million dollars was set aside – around 277 million Norwegian kroner at today’s exchange rates. Many still believe that not enough was done.

– I have spent time in Surfers Paradise with many of the local business owners, and several of them have neither seen nor spoken to the current councillor, said candidate for councilor Mona Hecke during a recent breakfast meeting.

– Walk through Surfers Paradise. He had four years to make improvements, but it still smells like a toilet, she said.

Mayoral candidate Danielle Dunsmore believes, like Hecke, that the improvements for the area have not been good enough.

– The district looks ugly. It looks like a prison.

Presumed Killed: New details

– Has the chance

Councilor Darren Taylor admits that more needs to be done to make the area more attractive to the public.

– There is a lot of talk about the area, but now we have the chance to make improvements. The plan is here, let’s act, he says.

Many moved to the Gold Coast in Queensland during the pandemic, as Australians sought out the biggest cities to avoid getting sick. According to News.com, the warm climate, the job opportunities and the small-town feel are some of the things that attract immigrants.

Now the city, which boasts around 290 sunny days a year, is experiencing a new wave of new arrivals, the website writes.
