SACHIR – Christian Horner will remain at the head of the Red Bull motor racing team. F1 team management made the announcement after an internal investigation cleared an official of allegations of misconduct against another team employee.
Horner will therefore remain as managing director and team principal following the announcement, which came three days before the first race of the season.
“The independent investigation into the allegations against Horner has been completed and Red Bull can confirm that the complaint has been dismissed. The complainant has the right to appeal. However, team management is confident that the investigation was fair, thorough and impartial.” parent company Red Bull said in a statement.
Since the investigation report is “confidential and contains private information that assisted the investigation”, the team will not comment further on the incident. Red Bull won all but one Grand Prix last season and Max Verstappen won his third world championship in the series. AFP reported.
Horner has been the head of Red Bull since he joined Formula 1 in 2005. Under the leadership of the English manager and former driver, the team has won seven world titles and won the Constructors’ Cup six times thanks to Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen. Last season, Red Bull won all but one race of the season and Verstappen won his third consecutive title.
Even before Red Bull published the statement, the Dutch pilot praised the work of his boss and said that the situation regarding Horner did not throw him off in the preparation for the season. “He is a very important person, otherwise he would not have been in office for so long,” Verstappen told reporters today.
“I’m primarily focused on the car’s performance. It’s a team effort, we all have to stick together and strive for success. That’s why it’s important that everything is resolved as soon as possible.”
