6th Composition Meeting at Esmdm: Exploring Contemporary Music Trends and Music Theory

• They will discuss the creative trends in contemporary music and music theory of the last decades

The Higher School of Music and Dance of Monterrey (Esmdm), of the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (Inbal) and the General Subdirectorate of Artistic Education and Research (Sgeia), will hold the 6th Composition Meeting, from the 4th to the 8th March, inside its facilities.

The event, organized by the Esmdm Composition Area, aims to be a meeting point and dialogue between the student and teaching community of the school, in addition to including educational institutions, such as the Chihuahua Conservatory of Music, the School of Music of the Autonomous University of Coahuila and the Faculty of Music of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, who in previous editions have been participatory.

Through conferences, workshops and concerts, with free admission, the creative trends of contemporary music will be known, as well as the musical theory of recent decades; Also, visitors will be able to enjoy concerts that include works by the Initiation to Composition students and advanced students of the Esmdm.

In addition, as part of the activities the installation will be carried out Soundscapeswhich presents pieces created by students of the subject of Electroacoustics –Bachelor in Music with Composition Orientation–, in the company of guest composers from various parts of Mexico and the world, which will be open throughout the event.

The activities will begin on March 4 with the workshop: Composition and collective improvisation: Use of mobile device sensors for the creation of digital musical instrumentstaught by teacher Homero Alberto Salazar Álvarez, and during the event the participation of students from the Bachelor of Music with an orientation in Composition will stand out: Dante Sánchez, Linda Aguirre and Cielo Padilla, who will give two conferences.
