The pollen season has started, according to the University of Turku’s pollen information.
Along with the southern air currents, alder and hazel pollen has been transported to Finland.

The hazel bush is currently blooming in southern Sweden and the alder in Central Europe, the status overview of the pollen information says.
According to Foreca, the pollen season lasts about half a year, usually from February to March until September.
Passing week
More pollen flows are expected from southern Europe during the current week.
The flowering of the walnut bush is estimated to start this week in the warmest growing places in the southwestern parts of the country and in Uusimaa.
Walnut pollen is in the air from 29 February to 2 March. a little in the western parts of the country and Uusimaa. In the vicinity of flowering plants, pollen levels can become higher, the situation report says.
Alder pollen migration can be expected throughout the country, except for Lapland. In the southern parts of the country, pollen amounts vary from moderate to abundant. In the rest of the country, the amounts are small or moderate.
Pollen can cause allergy symptoms when it enters the nose and lungs. It can also be felt in the eyes. Pollen usually causes mainly allergic rhinitis, sneezing, itchy and stuffy nose, as well as coughing and wheezing.
